FBA is “Fulfillment by Amazon”. It is a program that has been available for years already. If you have a product and want to sell it on Amazon, you can open an FBA seller account. It is easy to get into the program, to be honest. Once your account is approved, you will then set up your products on Amazon, entering your product details, description and such.
After your product is set up, you will then create a shipping plan through Amazon Seller Central. Basically, a shipping plan is just setting up with Amazon that you will ship in a product to their warehouses so that they can begin selling it. When a product is sold, Amazon will take care of the shipping.
It will be your job to monitor the inventory, and when inventory is starting to get low, go set up a new shipping plan, and ship additional product to the warehouse that Amazon specifies for delivery. One shipping plan can actually mean shipping product to multiple warehouses. For example, if you tell Amazon that you will ship in 12 pieces of an item, Amazon may tell you to send 6 pieces to Dallas, 4 to Phoenix, and 2 to Teterboro. Amazon likes to spread the product around to different parts of the country so that they can deliver it more quickly to customers no matter what city they live in.
Amazon FBA is great, in my opinion, in terms of when they pay. Remember, I live in the Philippines, and we are 1 day ahead of the USA. The days I mention are Philippine days, so depending on where in the world you live, it will be slightly different for you.
For products that I sell (and are shipped by Amazon) from Friday through the next Thursday, Amazon sends me the payment on the following Friday. So, for example, if I sell an item on Friday, the 3rd of the month, Amazon will send the payment to me on Friday, the 10th of the month. If I sell the product on Thursday, the 9th, the payment will be sent on the 10th. So, all sales are paid on Friday.
Now, when do I actually receive the payment? I have the payment sent to a “Virtual US Bank Account” through Payoneer. A payment sent from Amazon, sent on a Friday, to Payoneer, is usually available in my Payoneer account by the time I wake up on Tuesday morning, sometimes before I go to bed on Monday night. If the payment had been sent earlier in the week, like, say Tuesday, the money would probably be available to me on Wednesday. Since the payment is sent on a Friday, though, the weekend is in the middle, so that delays my receipt of the money.
So, Amazon FBA, in my opinion, is great about paying. I like it and find it convenient that I get paid weekly for sales that occurred in the previous week! It keeps the money flowing in nicely! Highly recommended!
