A lot of people tell me that they would love to move to the Philippines, but they don’t have enough money to support themselves, and thus cannot move. There are some very common sayings about this subject. First, a lot of people will tell you that it is impossible to earn any decent amount of money in the Philippines. Another thing that you hear is a joke – “how can you make a small fortune in the Philippines? By bringing a large fortune with you!”
Well, I am here to tell you that both of these statements are 100% incorrect. I know, because I do quite well here, thank you. I have been living in the Philippines for nearly a decade now, and to be frank and honest, I earn more money now than I ever earned when I lived in the USA. They say that the USA is the “land of opportunity.” Maybe it is. But, I can assure you that there are a ton of opportunities here too. And, the type of opportunities that you find here doesn’t require an account at Fort Knox to finance. I have started many, many businesses here for under $100, and some have paid off quite well. I can think of none that didn’t earn me a few Pesos. I have one business here that I started for about $50, and a month’s worth of work that I have earned well over $500,000 from. That’s not bad. You can do it too.
How can you do it? What do you need to start? Well, you need the ability to “think outside the box” and to try hard. You need to stop listening to all the naysayers who say that it is impossible. You need to have a positive attitude. You need to persevere, and not give up too easily. Basically, if you want to do it, you can. I know, because I did it many times over. I am still doing it today.
One thing I recommend is that if you want to earn money while living in the Philippines, you should read my Virtual Earner blog, which tells you ideas on how to make money online. It’s free to read the site, and I believe that you can use it to help you toward your goal of being able to live in the Philippines while earning plenty of money to enjoy a nice lifestyle.
Another thing I recommend is that you get my book, “49 Ways to make a living in the Philippines.” This book offers you 49 different viable ideas that will have you earning money when you live here. Heck, the truth is that most of the ideas in the book will work no matter where you live.
Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking you need a job. You don’t. You don’t want a job if you want to make real money. You can do it, just try!

Hi Tom – Thanks for visiting. I like your site, you just need to keep working on it and adding more content. Long term work and adding a lot of content is the key to web success. Good luck!

Hi Bob,
There will always be those who say it cannot be done, but with the right attitude anything is possible. Many said Edison would never invent electric light, but he did,to the dismay of the Gas utility companies.
All we need to do is look back 100yrs and see the pioneers who went out to the colonies when they were just backwaters populated by indiginous natives.
Look at the pioneers who migrated to the US when it was the real Wild West, many thought those early settlers were crazy.
A guy i knew moved to Thailand 10yrs ago, many said he would fail.He now has a thriving little business.A couple of guys ive read about have made successes of their lives, one in Panama the other in Sri Lanka.
All without having a pot of gold to start with.
I feel many make the mistake of following others into a saturated market.
Ideally you need something unique or in a niche market.
regards Chas.

Hi chasdv – What you say is so true. Having people say that something can’t be done is actually a stimulus for me to prove them wrong! And, you are so correct that it is important to find your own niche, if you just try to copy somebody else, you will usually experience failure.

Hi nader – Thank you for visiting my site! It is true that a lot of people say that you cannot earn money here in the Philippines, but I know it is not true, because I’ve been earning a living here for nearly a decade now!

Hi Bob – Your websites and your videos on youtube gave me as such a boost in trying to make a living in the Philippines myself well. Thanks so much for that my friend. I will be on your websites a lot more now and I will send you an e-mail soon to introduce myself to you as I respect you a lot, because of all the work you did. I`m honoured to call you a friend Bob. Once I will be over in the Philippines I`ll give you a shout.
Maybe your book and your other colums here can give me some new ideas on how to make my own living as an expat in the country where I found true love.
God bless you and your family forever.
Regards,
Adrie.
